Book it!

Your Cotolo Chronicles Notebook is cheap to buy and invaluable to own. In it, you can write anything you wish to recall so you can look things up later on the web. Many of the references made on our shows are not explained or annotated. We have suggested the Mead Composition book, the standard school tool for decades, as the tried-and-true book to use (see photo).

Talkin' notes

It is a great week to start your Cotolo Chronicles Notebook if you haven't already done so because the Sept. 28 program will have references up the kazoo. There is, however, no need to buy or play a kazoo as the references will not actually or virtually enter the playful instrument. But that is all the more reason to get yourself a composition book and fill it with references made on the program, since you might not have known about "up the kazoo" and it could be an entry.

As will be some of the subject of topics and sidebars addressed on this program, including Sally Field, Iva Toguri D'Aquino, The Ponderosa, Jackass Number Two, Rod Stewart, My Space and more.

Tuesday talk

There are not too many ways to look at it but if you try you may find one. I am no stranger to controversy, so I will use this blog now to bring to the table an important issue, one that you can not escape or fall off the table. Yes, you.

So click here and read before you go surfing the web, solo or as one of a couple, and then be left with facing the truth or the white gorilla.

Presenting Perry

Andrea Perry's newest work, a CD called Rivers Of Stars, is stunning, to say the least. I have already put my opinions into words, which you can read by downloading my personal review. Click here to download.

You can listen to some samples from the CD by clicking here.

Hopefully the reading and listening will encourage you to purchase the CD and to listen to the Sept. 21 Cotolo Chronicles. There, live at 9 p.m. EST, Andrea (pictured) will make a rare guest appearance to talk about the new work, her art and more in the unique conversation style that is now a trademark of the program.

'P' is for personality

The Sept. 12 program is the long-awaited monologue loosely titled The Urinating Celebrity.

There is nothing X-rated about this. It is, simply, stories about celebrities I have shared bathrooms with, during work and casual situations. Nor is this a kiss-and-tell program. These stories are unique and entertaining.

There is no way that in two hours I could present the stories and sidebars of every celebrity I have met in this natural situation, but the cast includes: Rudy Vallee, Dudley Moore, Michael Landon, Billy Dee Williams, Rick James, Long John Nebel, Wolfman Jack, Phil Everly, John Belushi, Peter Marshall, Jerry Lewis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bob Newhart ...

Get your beverage(s) of choice and open your Cotolo Chronicles notebook and join me.

Program tease, #3

Michael Landon thrived on the TV western Bonanza during 14 years in the role of Little Joe Cartwright. He developed not only as an actor but also as a writer and directed many episodes of Bonanza. Michael used his acting, writing, and directing skills to produce, write, direct, as well as star in Little House on the Prairie, and later, Highway to Heaven.

So what in the name of the old west does he have to do with the man whose name adorns the title of the program? And what does Michael have in common with Rudy Vallee, Dudley Moore, Billy Dee Williams, Phil Everly or Rick James, to name a few?

Stay tuned as we head for the Sept. 14 program.

Program tease, #2

A renowned performer, Dudley Moore could do it all. As a musician, composer, actor and comedian, he astonished fans all over the world with his talents and abilities.

In addition to receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in the movie 10, Moore won two Tony Awards, a Grammy and two Golden Globes.

So what in the name of Steinway pianos does he have to do with the man whose name adorns the title of the program? And what does Dudley have in common with Rudy Vallee, Michael Landon or Rick James, to name a few?

Stay tuned as we head for the Sept. 14 program.

Program tease, #1

Rudy Vallee became a legend. At 28 he wrote his autobiography, Vagabond Dreams Come True. He saved the life of the sheet-music industry during the Great Depression, when sales of everything but Rudy's music virtually stopped. He starred in the film, The Vagabond Lover, the first of 33 he would make.

So what in the name of megaphone singing does he have to do with the man whose name adorns the title of the program?

And what does Rudy have in common with Dudley Moore, Michael Landon or Rick James, to name a few? Stay tuned as we head for the Sept. 14 program.

The K factor

From 1958 until 1967, Murray “the K” Kaufman ruled the airwaves of New York. Today he lives on in radio history with the legacy he left behind – taking musical performances out of television studios (20 years before MTV), putting rock on FM, and adding multimedia at nightclubs and discos. He was instrumental introducing The Beatles (see photo) in the U.S. and keeping their Beatlemania machine running.

Murray's son, Peter Altschuler, is the Sept. 7 guest.

Missing links

Every once in a while you have to do a search of your own name--Google it, as we say these days. Some amazing things surface when you have a lot of pages, but the best are those last few pages on the long list.

Here are the links (click title to see page) for some of the final entries on the list of Frank Cotolo-Googled pages. I have no knowledge of why these associated pages exist.

College Nut -- The soundboard for the sophomoric
Feedb -- How did this work get onto this database?
Labrosa -- I seem to be in good company at Columbia University's project site
itsGratis -- DJs from Mars? I'm there.
Stellah9 -- The soundboard again!
Book for sale -- Buy it now on Ebay for only $199
Allmusic -- Glowing review of a pseudo-Frenchman's music
