Role call from the bone garden, Y2K+6

'A' is for 'artist,' so is 'D'

Dlicious Productions presents The Internet's First Superstar, appearing on the Dec. 21 program. You might know this person as The Artist D or you might just be ready to be introduced to the next big thing in ...superstar talent.

Author of the books Transitions Revamped, Metamorphium and Grune Blume, photographer, painter, raconteur and provocateur, D is a template for talented energy and, as our show is bound to do now and then, we will harness that energy and let it rip in open conversation.

"Intriguing the world with his art since the mid '90s, 'D' Shellhammer has been known for inspirational words and chameleonesque photos. His style continually changes while holding down a trusted formula."

(Sing to the tune of There's No Business Like Show Business):"There's no hammer like Shell-hammer, there's no hammer I know ..."

The Monday muse

So recently I was hanging out with the Italian tenor, Antonello Palombi (pictured at left) in Milan. We were discussing how one should never sing in public after licking postage stamps. That night, Ant-knee, as I call him, found himself on the stage of Teatro Alla Scala during a plush production of Verdi's Aida. He wasn't supposed to be there. In fact, he had never even heard of Verdi, no less his Aida, but fate plunged him into the spotlight and me along with him.

We're still here!

Technical difficulties in some areas of the world resulted in a blackout of our Dec. 14 live broadcast. Fret not, because the program is available as a rebroadcast, podcast, stream or simple download.

Check the Dec. 13 post below for all of the options. We expect all the properties involved with continuing the live broadcast will be gathered and in place again for the Dec. 21 program. Keep checking this blog for any late-breaking news on all subjects related to the program.

And please feel free to find a place in the day to stand, spread your arms and shout, "I'm still heeeeeeeeere!"

Bud & Lou & you

On the Dec. 14 program, Chris Costello returns to talk with Frank about the DVD sets of the Abbott & Costello Show, now available and, as Frank says, "One of the greatest Christmas gifts of all time."

Frank, a scholar of the program, talks with Chris, the daughter of Lou Costello (pictured), about the programs, comedic landmarks with a Vaudeville beat yet far ahead of their time in structure and composition.

Also, Chris' great book, Lou's On First, though out of print, is being offered new and used at Amazon.com. If you haven't read this book, order it ASAP. Click here for the Amazon page.

Thinking of you ...

If memory serves me well, and it rarely does, I recall great things said by not-so-great people. This can happen, will happen and when it does you should make a mental note of it. I do, except since memory does not serve me well I sometimes corrupt the original thought. Then, of course, the meaning flys out the window like a peach pit shot from a Magnum 645 (which is not, in fact, a model, but what I remember was the model).

So click here and read about remembering what might have been said and what you remember about it.

The Monday muse

In our April 3, Y2K+6 post, we broke a fictional story about the brothers Gibb, a.k.a. The Bee Gees, being connected to the bloodline of Jesus.

Though this story was based solely on the photo posted then (see that same photo on the left), now, as the Christmas season approaches, Jesus's resemblance to a family member of the Bee Gees is not the only thing about his appearance being challenged. Click here for the full story and you can take it or leave it. Either way, it is The Monday muse.

Another tale of mystery and strange

Here's your weekend read: The further adventures of Turk Berain, the private investigator everyone is talking about. All right, so maybe not everyone is talking about him, but some are talking about him and some are calling him by his alias names.

Turk Berain is a neo-post-modern detective whose stories are film noir without the film.

Click here to read his latest adventure!

Get hip to the beat

News, information, conversation and insubordination, the founding elements of our program, take root again on Y2K+6's first December program, Dec. 7.

Sans a guest, it is just you and the host this time around, in a two-hour drum-solo performance when your special notebook and your choice of beverage makes extra sense by your side.

More talk

There may be a lesson to learn from an intimidating phone call. You may get one and you may have to deal with it. Click here to see how I dealt with a phone call that was a phoney call as well, and the kind of call no one wants to get, no less on a Wednesday.

The Monday muse

Every Monday we present a special piece that attempts to help this sad and useless first day of the work week to launch you into a stimulating frame of mind. This Monday, first Monday of December, is no different.

Go over to this link where we hope the text satisfies our intentions. Once again, that link is here. Should you care for tags on the subject, try this link, this link, this link and this link. If you care to take pot luck on tags, try this link, this link or this link.

The message is the medium

Blah, blah, blah ...

It's the first Friday of the month and that means it is time for Cotolo Monthly.

It's a talk magazine with alternative broadcasting's veteran mouth at the helm, as the pilot, your guide, host and usher. But more than that, it's an interactive show where the audience is the engine. Talk to Cotolo through your AIM, YAHOO or MSN messengers. Ask questions, suggest topics, share recipes, talk about what you are thinking and feeling.

It's exclusively on Wild Bunch Radio. Tonight, 8 p.m. EST.
