The celebrity conundrum
Show business is all for show, as it turns out. Being a celebrity is embarking, as John Cleese wrote, “in a wussy lifestyle.” Woody Allen’s common theme of “the slippery nature of celebrity and public expectation” touches the heart of the matter. In the end, celebrities can only “Hope” to get thanks for the memory, while contributing nothing to mankind. But people entertaining people are not the luckiest people in the world; they are manufacturers of an image machine that is fueled by prototype and self-rewards that are misinterpreted as contributions to mankind. Tune in for the live broadcast/webcast at 9 p.m. EST.

Everything old is new again
The recent decision that the pop song Blurred Line is a plagiarized Marvin Gaye song brings to the surface a universe of possibilities to judge, some very funny and absurd. What is the difference between plagiarism and Neo-Post Modernism? Can someone copyright “influence” and keep the lawsuits coming for just about anyone who creates a book or movie or play or song or painting? Where is the line drawn? Tune in for the live broadcast on March 12 at 9 p.m. EDT.
